In Memory of Morgan 08-26-08

Talk about being on a roller coaster of emotions. Saturday was such a happy day for our family. My son and new daughter-in-law had their marriage blessed in church. They were married in Riviera Maya, Mexico on August 4. Saturday night was their wedding reception. The reception was such fun. All of our friends and relatives were there and life was great. We returned home at 1:30am Sunday morning to find our puggle lethargic and weak. We rushed her to a 24-hour emergency critical care veterinarian center. From her outward signs, the vets thought she had been bit by something, but could find no puncture wounds. Her belly was very red and they assumed she was having a severe allergic reaction to something. They began treating her with Benadryl. When we went to see her on Sunday evening she was so weak that she couldn't stand. By Monday her entire body was bloated and the vets were telling us she had something called vasculitus, which in simple terms means her blood vessels were breaking open and leaking fluid into her body. When they told us they were having trouble managing her pain, we decided to have her euthanized. We are all going to die someday, but needless suffering is just not acceptable in my eyes. The hardest thing to accept is the fact that she was only 5 years old and that this sickness came on so quickly. This dog had the sweetest disposition. She has left a paw print on our family that will never be forgotten. Rest in peace my sweetie girl.

So sorry about your puppy dog...that must have been a very hard decision to make for you to put her to sleep.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Did the vet say how a dog gets this? Is it genetic?
